Unit 3 - Week 9 - Rational Functions - Mar 15th - Mar 19th

Welcome to Week 9 of Math 3
Unit 3 - Rational Functions

Most Daily/ Weekly assignments will be due the next  day or by 4 pm of Saturday each week.

Listed below will be our Daily Agenda Activities for our "class days" of Monday - Friday.  We will have a Live Google Meet on Monday - Friday morning.
You may work ahead on the Homework Tasks.  Please save your questions for the end of our live Remote Learning Sessions and/or for the
Tuesday - Thursday Afternoon Office Time (2:30pm - 3:00pm).  If you miss the live sessions, please go through each Daily Agenda of links  & Bring your
questions to Tuesday - Thursday's Office Time.  Make sure you COMPLETE all of the assignments each week to obtain your weekly grade(s).

Students will be able to:

    • NC.M3.A-SSE.1 Interpret expressions that represent a quantity in terms of its context.
      1. Identify and interpret parts of a piecewise, absolute value, polynomial, exponential and rational expressions including terms, factors, coefficients, and exponents.
      2. Interpret expressions composed of multiple parts by viewing one or more of their parts as a single entity to give meaning in terms of a context.
    • NC.M3.A-APR.6 Rewrite simple rational expressions in different forms; write a(x)b(x) in the form q(x) + r(x)b(x), where a(x), b(x), q(x), and r(x) are polynomials with the degree of r(x) less than the degree of b(x).

    • NC.M3.A-APR.7 Understand the similarities between arithmetic with rational expressions and arithmetic with rational numbers.
            a. Add and subtract two rational expressions, a(x) and b(x), where the denominators of both a(x) and               b(x) are linear expressions.
           b. Multiply and divide two rational expressions.

    • NC.M3.A-CED.1 Create equations and inequalities in one variable that represent absolute value, polynomial, exponential, and rational relationships and use them to solve problems algebraically and graphically.

    • NC.M3.A-CED.2 Create and graph equations in two variables to represent absolute value, polynomial, exponential and rational relationships between quantities.

    • NC.M3.A-REI.2 Solve and interpret one variable rational equations arising from a context, and explain how extraneous solutions may be produced

    • NC.M3.F-IF.4 Interpret key features of graphs, tables, and verbal descriptions in context to describe functions that arise in applications relating two quantities to include periodicity and discontinuities.

    • NC.M3.F-IF.7 Analyze piecewise, absolute value, polynomials, exponential, rational, and trigonometric functions (sine and cosine) using different representations to show key features of the graph, by hand in simple cases and using technology for more complicated cases, including: domain and range; intercepts; intervals where the function is increasing, decreasing, positive, or negative; rate of change; relative maximums and minimums; symmetries; end behavior; period; and discontinuities.

    • NC.M3.F-IF.9 Compare key features of two functions using different representations by comparing properties of two different functions, each with a different representation (symbolically, graphically, numerically in tables, or by verbal description)

1. Welcome - Good Morning - "The Count Down" to start class - Hello"!
2. Example Problems 1 - 3, Set 1 # 7, & Set 2 Dark Purple in the Worksheet Packet.       1st Period Link Links to an external site.                      2nd Period Link Links to an external site.
(Use the Desmos Graphing Calculator or your own Graphing Calculator to do the Example Problems and the Homework Problems.)
3. Coloring Worksheet Activity:
Set 1 - Work these problems using either Desmos or your own Graphing Calculator.
Set 2 - Work these problems Algebraically and show your work.
(The answers from Set 1 should match one of the answers in Set 2.  If each answer does not match up with another problem, you have done something wrong.)
4. After you work out all of the Homework problems on the Coloring Pages, find the problem #s that have the same answer and color the respective sections on the Coloring Page.
Upload Part  # 1 = Type in the answers to #5, 6, 7, and Set 1 in Canvas
Upload Part # 2 = Use either a pdf or jpg showing Your Algebraic Work for Set 2.
Upload Part # 3 = Upload a pdf or jpg copy of your completed Coloring Worksheet.
