Course Description: This course will introduce students to realistic business and finance principles by examining fundamental economic concepts, the business environment, and primary business activities. Through workplace scenarios and problem-based learning, students will explore business ethics, customer relations, economics, financial analysis, human resources management, information management, marketing, operations, and business technology.

  • Earbuds/headphones that fit a 3.5mm audio jack/plug on desktop computers.
  • 2GB flash drive

Professional Dress: Students will be taught professional etiquette as well as proper professional dress.  Students will be expected to have a professional dress outfit available that will be worn on field trips and required school days.  Help is available to secure the proper attire.

Parent Involvement and Support: VMCCA encourages active communication and participation with parents and the community. Parents are encouraged to share any opportunities through their work and skills to help in service learning for students, job readiness, guest speaking, or sponsoring events. Teacher will communicate with parents via Remind for periodic updates.

Summative Assessments are designed to evaluate students’ academic achievement at the end of a sequence of instruction. Only summative assessments will count toward a student’s grade in order for the grade to reflect only the academic achievement. If a student performs poorly on a summative assessment, there will be an opportunity for the student to re-test ONLY if the student initiates the re-test and has worked towards gaining the missing proficiency.

Formative assessments will be given throughout the objectives and are designed to provide the student with direction for improvement and to provide the teacher with direction for instruction.  

Homework - It is my goal that students make good, efficient use of their time. Homework is assigned to enhance learning and should always be completed promptly. This class will follow the VMCCA homework policy as posted on the school website.

VMCCA Grading Policy:    

  • Major Assessments:  50%
  • Minor Assessments: 35%
  • Homework: 15% 

A = 100 – 90

B = 89 – 80

C = 79 – 70

D = 69 - 60

F  = 59 and below

Class Routine:

  1. Students have an opportunity to review/print the notes from Canvas.
  2. Class instruction begins with outlining the day's learning outcomes and working through the posted Canvas lesson plans.
  3. Following Class Instructions understanding of the material is reinforced through an activity prior to evaluating for learning through formative assessment.
  4. Students should expect a test at the end of each Unit, Quarter, and Semester. There is a required State Exam at the conclusion of the course.
