This course is designed to be the equivalent of a one-semester, introductory college course in algebra based physics. This course will follow the NC Standard Course of Study Links to an external site., and the College Board AP Physics 1 Links to an external site.curriculum. Due to the quantitative analysis that is required in the course, students must have taken and successfully completed Math III. Students are typically more successful in AP Physics 1 if they have completed or are taking pre-Calculus or Calculus as vectors and trig functions are covered more completely in those classes than in previous math classes.
All students taking AP classes are strongly encouraged to take the AP exam in that subject area. The AP Physics 1 exam is scheduled for May 12, 2022 at 12:00PM. Classroom tests administered throughout the school year will be based on the format and difficulty of past AP exams. It is the student's responsibility to register for the AP exam per guidelines provided by PCHS--more information on registration for college board will be provided in class.
The AP Physics 1: Algebra-Based Exam has consistent question types, weighting, and scoring guidelines every year, so you and your students know what to expect on exam day.
