Instructional Strategies:  For Social Skills instruction, the district has a new curriculum which incorporates discussion, role play, explicit instruction (with visuals and guided notes), and self-analysis.  Parents and students will assess needs and groupings will be created to this. I am trying to figure out how to use this in a virtual classroom.

For content support, AST/BST staff will reteach material, help construct study materials, and assess progress on IEP goals.

Evaluation Criteria and Grading:

For the semester, Quarter 1 and Quarter 2 will each count 40%.  The final project that will be worked on during December will count 20% as the final exam.

Quarter 3 and Quarter 4 will have four grade categories:

Quizzes

Device Policy: During virtual learning, students should be participating in class, not off task with their device. http://wcpss.net/Page/25932 explains the school policy.  I will give one warning (sometimes, class-wide) and then inform parents/guardians of challenges.

Expectations and Policies (Incorporate CKH)

  • ALL policies in the Student Handbook (http://wcpss.net/domain/305) apply!
  • We will follow a Social Contract, which students will create for the our class.
  • This classroom will be safe, fun, and a welcoming environment in which everyone that enters feels comfortable, safe, and ready to learn!

Sharing class materials with family/guardians:  Families need to know what you are learning in class so that social skills may be reinforced at home.  Families may also want to assist students with homework completion.  Please tell them about what you are studying and doing in class.  There will be homework that students will need to do to practice with family/friends and generalize new skills!
