Course Objective:

During this block, the main objective is for students to work at a local community job site or to volunteer on-campus. Students will be able to acquire stronger written and verbal communication skills, learn more about themselves and others, and improve knowledge of career goals.

When in class, students will be reading a variety of literature that focuses on key reading strategies: making judgments, making inferences, drawing conclusions, finding the main idea, visualizing and making connections. Students will be able to apply acquired knowledge to everyday life situations and improve job skills.

Grading System:

Daily Participation Grades                   60%

Exams/Tests/Quizzes                           20%

Papers/Essays/Projects                         20%
