IN CLASS (follow Google Slides, pages 1-9)

1. We will watch a video as an introduction to the book Good Masters! Sweet Ladies! (see page 2 of the Google Slides for video.)

2. We will preview the book and discuss its contents.

3. We will learn some literary vocabulary - monologue, dialogue, vignette.

4. We will listen to a monologue called "Barbary the Mudslinger" (on page 45 of Good Masters! Sweet Ladies!) and discuss how it looks and sounds different from prose.

INDEPENDENT WORK

Read one or two monologues from the book. Practice reading fluently and making it sound like the character is telling it.
