Unit 2 - Transformations in Coordinates

Most Daily/ Weekly assignments will be due the next day or by 9pm of Sunday each week.

Listed below will be our Daily Agenda Activities for our "class days" of Monday - Friday. We will have a Live Google Meet on Monday - Friday morning. You may work ahead on the Homework Tasks. Please save your questions for the end of our live Remote Learning Sessions and/or for the Tuesday - Thursday Afternoon Office Time (2:00pm - 2:30pm). If you miss the live sessions, please go through each Daily Agenda of links & Bring your questions to Tuesday - Thursday's Office Time. Make sure you COMPLETE all of the assignments each week to obtain your weekly grade(s).

Unit 2 Transformation Objectives

NC.M2.G-CO.2, 3, 4, & 5

Transformations include:

Translations
Reflections
Rotations
Dilations

Students will be able to use techniques of graphing to:

Realize that the length of the image of a line segment is equal to the length of the line segment multiplied by the scale factor.
Represent transformations on a graph.
Draw and move points using the rules of translations, reflections, rotations, and dilations to transformation a Pre-image to an image.

3. In - Class Translation Example Problems - (Teacher Copy Do # 1 & 7) Student Copy - (You can use your Stylus pen and draw on the page or Draw the graph in your Notebook as you Take Notes!!!)

Reflections -->

x - axis

y - axis

Line y = x

Line y = -x

Instructions

Multiply the y - value by -1

(Do the opposite of y)

Multiply the x - value by -1

(Do the opposite of x)

Switch the x and y numbers

Switch the s and y numbers and switch the signs of each number

(Do the opposite of y and x.)

Review of Translations

Class Starts at 7:25 am

1. Welcome - Good Morning - "The Count Down" to start class! - Daily Attendance Form, "Hello"..
2. Translations means move up, down, left, and/or right
Reflection means count the spaces from the line for x - axis, y-axis, x = #, and y = #
Reflection for y = x and y = -x means use the formula
Dilation means get bigger or get smaller
3. Finish Monday & Tuesday's Notes - In - Class Examples - Reflection Problems -Teacher Copy
4. Translation Review Problems -Teacher Copy Student Copy - (You can use your Stylus pen and draw on the page or Draw the graph in your Notebook as you take Notes!!!)
5. Demonstrate how to play the On-line Game Translation Practice
