Course Information

Expectations:
Assignments will be posted within Canvas each day. Class time will be dedicated to applied learning activities and higher-order thinking tasks such as case studies, discussions, laboratory investigations, and project-based learning.  We do activities on a regular basis that require access to the internet, so you will need to bring your laptop to class each day.

Canvas Course: https://wcpss.instructure.com/courses/1348567

Absences/Make-Up Work:
Work assigned in advance of absences, including tests, are due upon the student’s return to school unless extenuating circumstances and a make up plan have been communicated. There will be a late penalty of 10% for each day an assignment is turned in late, up to 30% for 3 days late. Once a due date passes, an alternate/adjusted assignment may be given that assesses the same objectives.

Grading:
This year, all Wake STEM courses will use category weights in determining quarter grades. Categories, weights, and assignment numbers are as follows:

Tests: 30% (2 tests per quarter)
Projects: 30% (2 projects with multiple checkpoint and product assignments per quarter)
Labs / Case Studies: 30% (approximately 5 assignments per quarter)
Quizzes: 10% (5-7 assignments per quarter)
